About the NICCP and the CCPS Designation

The National Institute of Certified College Planners (NICCP), founded in 2002, is the organization dedicated solely to the administration and maintenance of the Certified College Planning Specialist designation program.

The driving force behind the NICCP is its Advisory Council, composed of dedicated professionals with many years of experience in higher education and the financial services industry.

The mission of the NICCP is to advance the principles of financial planning for higher education through providing recognition and support to those experienced financial professionals who devote a large portion of their practices to helping families plan financially for college without sacrificing their current lifestyle or destroying their other financial priorities.

The CCPS designation is the nation's first and only professional certification program with an exclusive focus on college financial planning.  While virtually all financial advisors have backgrounds in retirement planning, many lack the in-depth training needed to demonstrate a requisite level of expertise in the field of college planning.

This knowledge gap explains why the NICCP was created. The core objective of The National Institute of Certified College Planners is to provide the ongoing educational support and public recognition that distinguish and empower CCPS designees in the in the specialty field of college financial planning.
